Archipelago: architecture conceived from the territory
We are an architecture studio in Madeira, Portugal, dedicated to developing projects that establish a conscious relationship between architecture, territory, landscape, and place identity. Based on the island of Madeira, the studio brings together architects from different backgrounds, experiences, and ways of thinking. This diversity is an essential part of the design process, understood as a collaborative exercise between people, disciplines, and knowledge. For us, architecture is a way of interpreting place. Each project starts from the specific characteristics of the territory, its topography, scale, light, materials, and relationship with the landscape. We seek to create spaces integrated into the context, capable of establishing a balanced relationship between the built environment and the surrounding environment.
